Marisa Carnesky Showwoman

Oriana Fox and guest Marisa Carnesky Season 2 Episode 6

Oriana Fox interviews seasoned showwoman Marisa Carnesky. They discuss showwomanship, raw talent, collaboration, menstruation and miscarriage, all of which are addressed in Carnesky Production’s accessible, provocative and political work.

The interview was recorded live on Instagram in May 2021 as part of Oriana's digital residency at Mimosa House Gallery. You can watch the original video here.

Oriana Fox is a London-based, New York-born artist with a PhD in self-disclosure. She puts her expertise to work as the host of the talk show performance piece The O Show.

Marisa Carnesky is an artist, showwoman and practitioner-researcher with her very own production company responsible for original large and small scale interactive performance works. Carnesky Productions is interested in the use of spectacle; fairground rides, magic illusions and grand ritual as a means of creating highly accessible provocative work, rooted in popular culture that promotes cultural and political discourses.

If you want more, book tickets for Carnesky’s upcoming live event "Kabaret Kollective" on 11 March at Tramshed in Woolwich Arsenal. Also coming up in May is a tour of Showwomen at various UK venues, see carnesky.com for details.
